On May 21, 2009, The State of Hawaii announced their plans to increase the Transient Accommodations Tax. The TAT will, as of July 1, 2009 be increased by one percent, from 7.25% to 8.25%. This, together with the 4.712% Hawaii State Excise tax, means that the total applied taxes for hotel accommodations will be 12.962%, for dates of stay from July 1 onwards.
